Dr Stephen Barrattshaw MBChB BA BMedSci MSc MInstLM MAcadMEd MRCPsych is a consultant general adult psychiatrist with subspecialist endorsement in rehabilitation psychiatry.
He is listed on the specialist register of the GMC with a license to practice medicine (7274615), is a Member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and is an Approved Clinician under The Mental Health Act.
Dr Barrattshaw originally trained as a general nurse before medical school and since graduating as a doctor completed his specialist training whilst obtaining a Master’s Degree in Clinical Leadership and became an award-winning medical educator for his roles with The University of Cardiff and Swansea University medical schools as clinical lecturer and then psychiatry module director respectively.
Since becoming a consultant in 2020, Dr Barrattshaw has worked in psychosis, inpatient, and enhanced community services.
Alongside his consultant work he has served as Director of Postgraduate Medical Education for a large NHS Mental Health Trust.
He has worked as a consultant for a busy NHS adult ADHD clinic and worked remotely in the private sector assessing and treating adults with ADHD from across the country.
He prides himself on his laid-back, pragmatic approach and his ability to assess and treat individuals with adult ADHD alongside complications such as substance misuse, mood and anxiety disorders along with gender dysphoria and autism.,/span>
